Recently, SOGO was honored to receive the “Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (‘TCSA’)” from Executive Yuan which is not only the first TCSA for SOGO, but also the first recipient for Taiwan’s department stores sector, and the first honor received by the Far Eastern Group.
As we celebrate SOGO’s 30th founding anniversary, we are able to set up a role model for Taiwan’s society and industries. While leading fashion trend and offering dedicated services to the people of Taiwan, we can achieve synergies by integrating customers, suppliers, merchandize brands, communities and all stakeholders on corporate and environment sustainability. Being the recipient of this award and aside from its glamorous windows display, it is very meaningful to see how SOGO’s endeavors and contributions helped make Taiwan’s society a better place.
Digital era is not the competition between virtual and physical retailers, but is deemed as a new ecosystem formed by integrating both resources to the firm. SOGO has joined hands with the Group affiliates, analyzed big data to gain customer insights, adopt digital technologies to enhance service qualities, integrate diversified mobile payment tools, streamline shopping processes, implement digital marketings, so as to provide useful information to the customers, and let customers enjoy the “Digitalized Fashion,” which is not only SOGO’s innovation, but also a smart way to move toward excellent lifestyle.
While delivering outstanding performances, SOGO has committed to being the “CSR Role Model in the Department Store Businesses,” which achieved many “unprecedented Department Stores Firsts,” and stride into Asian market. What we are constructing is a dream to be “the World’s First Sustainable Department Store.” Unlike the manufacturing industries which can conserve water and electricity during its productions, it is difficult for SOGO facilities to be referred to as the green architectures due to limitation of its existing buildings. However, as a channel platform, SOGO has tried to seek various environmental friendly measures. Hoping that when customers enter SOGO, it will allow them to use their senses to interact with this eco-friendly environment, participating in low-carbon educational activities, purchasing green merchandise, and developing into a totally “Sustainability Focused Department Store.”
At the 30th founding anniversary of SOGO, one loyal customer held my hands and said: “Everyone has a SOGO in his/her heart.” I cannot help but imagine what will SOGO be in people’s memories after ten or twenty years? Hope that SOGO will continue to focus on the environmental, economic, and social issues. We will dedicate to gradually inspire throughout Taiwan to cultivate together the sustainable developments so that SOGO shall be not only the leader in fashion and aesthetics, but also creator and keeper of a sustainable environment.＃
