Far Eastern New Century Honored with the Biosensor/Smart Textile ‘International Oscar’ Award at the 2016/2017 ISPO
From:FENC

Far Eastern New Century (FENC), a global leader in smart textile and design, unveiled DynaFeedTM, the next generation smart textile solution using advanced conductive polymer matrix on 24 January 2016. This innovative solution propelled FENC to win the internationally acclaimed Gold Award at the 2016/2017 Internationale Fachmesse fur Sportartikel und Sportsmode [ISPO]

DynaFeedTM is an evolutionary smart garment solution that is designed with the ‘Internet of Things’ generation in mind. It seamlessly integrates the textile world to the digital with an intelligent vitals monitoring platform that can optimize training and performances of athletes.

By combining advanced biosensor technology solutions with FENC innovative ultra-thin conducive carbon nanotube based polymer film, DynaFeedTM accurately measures vital heart rate and motion data in a simple and cost efficient manner, eliminating complexities and high costs of additional gadgets

The manufacturing process is also immensely simplified, accelerating brand owners’ adaptation of such a coating based platform – proving that developing award winning breakthroughs technology solutions does not need to be complicated or expensive.

‘We have never stopped challenging ourselves and the status quo in the industry. As pioneers in smart textile innovation, we work hard to inspire, disrupt and transform the industry. What makes this award even more significant to FENC is the fact that this is the first time the ISPO Gold is awarded to a smart textile manufacturer instead of a traditional brand owner or a tech manufacturer. We are confident this prestigious recognition will also translate into short and long term business prospects and enhanced market share opportunities for FENC’ said Humphrey Cheng, President, Corporate Management, FENC.

In presenting the Gold award to FENC, the ISPO panel of judges described DynaFeedTM as
“A great new component that does not inhibit the functionality of the fabric while collecting and transporting vital information”.

The technology solution behind DynaFeedTM

The FENC R&D Center created a novel polymer matrix that is highly conductive and durable, contains no metal and can be easily applied onto any type of substrate.

The DynaFeedTM platform was then developed in partnership between FENC and Neurosky. This technology permits direct and accurate measurement of vital biometrics data up to an accuracy of 99.7% by conventional ECG methodology. Users can also monitor other specific vital data such as fat burn or cardio zone, which was previously available mostly in a closed-door gym environment. With DynaFeedTM, data can now be available anytime, anywhere, accurately and seamlessly.

FENC first to foresee a Big Leap Forward in smart textile innovation

FENC is an established major global player in textile, polymer and chemical industry having vertically and horizontally integrated its multi-discipline teams and production processes. FENC is also in total control of raw materials and novel chemical compounding, making it one of the top choice suppliers of materials for major international brands.

Working in close collaboration with global brand leaders, FENC is the first to foresee that the future of textile will inevitably lean towards a smarter and more intuitive path, which is what sets FENC apart from its competition.

At ISPO, FENC was highly successful in attracting and engaging the interest of multiple global brand partners who will be implementing the DynaFeedTM solution in no time.

Market Outlook

The global smart textiles market was valued at USD$ 795 Million in 2014 and is expected to reach USD$ 4.72 Billion by 2020, at a CAGR of 33.58% between 2015 and 2020. The market for the sports and fitness segment is expected to grow at an even higher CAGR of 40.30% between 2015 and 2020.
