Far Eastern New Century Corporation (FENC) expresses its deepest apology over the explosion incident at the Hsinchu factory on February 6, which resulted in public concerns.
This accident tragically resulted in the loss of 2 employees and the hospitalization of 19 others. Currently, 9 individuals remain hospitalized, while 10 have been discharged to continue their recovery at home. The Company shall fully support the families of the deceased employees with funeral arrangements and provide appropriate compensation. For hospitalized employees, dedicated staff have been assigned to assist their families with medical care around the clock. Additionally, FENC is extending its solicitude and care to other injured employees to aid in their recovery.
The Company received an official order today from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the Ministry of Labor, mandating the suspension of operations at the entire Hsinpu Chemical Fiber Plant. This plant has an annual polyester production capacity of 400,000 tons. The estimated monthly revenue impact is NT$2.1 billion, with projected monthly suspension losses of NT$245 million
The Company will conduct a thorough review and implement necessary improvements in response to this accident. Domestic and international experts will be invited to perform a comprehensive inspection of all FENC global production sites, adhering to the strictest standards to ensure the safe operation of all relevant facilities.
